A Plethora of Shows

Ever since taking time off to deal with my health issue, I've had a pent up urge to splurge on cards.  Between online auctions and card shows, I'm pretty sure I've blown my budget for the rest of the year.  And since that line has been crossed, why not just keep going?  With all the card shows going on each weekend it's tough to stay away.  There were a total of 5 - yes 5 - card shows to choose from this past weekend and I made it to two of them.  I'll highlight cards from the first show in this post.

The show I attended on Saturday is a monthly club show.  It's used to be much busier, but no doubt had been affected by the number of shows going on at the same time this day.  That didn't matter to me since it was much easier to check out cards and speak with the dealers.  In this case, the six cards displayed here are from the 1985 MN Twins 7-Eleven set.  I thought I had a complete set already, but my Puckett somehow disappeared.  This card has gained in popularity over the years so I was happy to find it, along with the complete 11 card set.

I was ecstatic to find a Reggie rookie that fit my set.  This card is a soft on the corners but very happy to check this off the list.  Of course buyers remorse kicked in when later on I saw another rookie that was in much better shape for $100 more.  Kind of wish I could return this and pick that one up.

Bonus card!  I swung a two-fer deal to get the 5th Series checklist featuring Mantle tossed in.  My '69 build should be all down hill from here, since most of what I need are commons.

This Rose was a good buy at $20.  I still have about 100 cards left in this set build.

And then we have George Costanza!  I thought I'd show off another great custom card from the one and only ninepockets!  He had a giveaway recently and my duck placed 2nd!  Thanks for the contest and card!

That's not all I picked up at this show but I'll show that stuff off in another post.

Until next time happy hunting!

  1. That's some good stuff ... I can't imagine having that many shows to go to at one time.

  2. oh man, if they were all close, I'd be gnawing at the door. Very nice vintage adds.

  3. Terrific cards! Reggie is one of the last 5 I need to finish the set, not sure I'll ever be willing to pay what they go for, though. Those Twins cards are fun oddballs too.
