Playing Monopoly

I'm pretty sure everyone in America has either played or at least heard of the game of Monopoly.  I never really cared for Monopoly, the game takes too long to play.  The only time I really liked Monopoly was when my sister worked at McDonald's and she would bring home a bag of game pieces, then a bunch us of kids would open them and look for the free food (which always seemed to be either a small fry or coke).

Those were the days.

Nowadays kids get to experience Monopoly with basketball cards.  Maybe I would have enjoyed opening packs of basketball cards and searching for favorite players rather than free food.

Anyway, on a whim I picked up two packs of Prizm Monopoly cards hoping to find an Ant or Wemby.
Let's see how I did.

PACK 1

Not quite who I was hoping for but Barnes is a pretty good player.

I'm not a fan of his but there was a lot of hype for Lamelo.

Furphy sounds like the name of a stuffed animal or perhaps a pet.  That's not what I was looking for.

Not bad for a red wave.  A $2 card helps recover some of the cost of these packs.

PACK 2

Every time I see the name Franz, I think of the old SNL skit about 'pumping you up'.

SGA is a good pull.  Another $1 or $2 card.

Another decent pull.  This red wave features the finnish 7 footer who is having a pretty good season.

Finally Hawks forward Jalen Johnson.

He's my assessment:
1) 😢My frown would have turned upside down with an Ant or Wemby.
2) Packs with only 4 cards suck.
3) Monopoly seems like just another gimmick to get people to buy cards.
4) Glad I didn't spend more than $6 on these.

Ripping packs is always fun, but I won't be wasting anymore money on this product.
Until next time, happy hunting!

  1. Saw those at Target, near the clearance items, but I didn't look close enough to see if they were marked down, and I don't do basketball. If they are though next time I go maybe I'll grab a few and see if we can get you an Ant or Wemby.
