Recent Distractions

Let me start off this post by saying congrats to the Seahawks for winning the Super Bowl.  As a Vikings fan, it hurts to say that in more ways than one.  Yeah I get the whole Sam Darnold thing, but I think at the beginning of last season most Viking fans wanted to see what McCarthy could do.  Unfortunately that didn't work out.  Maybe McCarthy will be a late bloomer like Darnold.  The other thing that haunts Vikings fans is that Seattle came into the league in 1976 and has now won 2 Super Bowls.  The Vikings are still waiting after 65 years for that first big win.  Some day, maybe.

I didn't watch the whole game, maybe a quarter.  The Super Bowl doesn't get me excited like it used to, but maybe that's just me getting old.  My time was preoccupied sorting cards and trying to figure out how to update my wifi.  I'm still working on both.  While I'm sure anyone reading this would be thrilled to see my wifi progress, I'll show off some cards instead.

I'll get this one out of the way first.  For a buck, I picked up this Kenneth Walker III Clear Vision rookie card not because of a potential Super Bowl win, but because it's a cool acetate card.

This is another 'some day, maybe' thing.  I'm a ways off from finishing this set but progress is progress.

Beringer is making a case for being in the regular rotation for the Wolves.

I found this 1996 Topps laser for a buck.  Love these die cut cards.

I'll take Guerrero Jr rookies for a buck anytime.

I have the set but dang it, I need the stickers.

On the vintage side I picked up this Harry Dorish for about $5.

I also picked up a 1992 Nolan Ryan gold card for a buck.  Someday I'll put this set together.

There's an awful lot to like about these two cards.

And there's a lot to like about these cards.  All are from the 2024 Topps Chrome Football set and the Drake Maye cards satisfy my set build, the Jerry Rice was a bonus card.

A pair of Cal Raleigh rookies.  I grab these when I see them.

He's got to do something sometime right?

I found this Dirk rookie hiding in a bin and plucked it out for about $6.

I'm not even sure if I needed this for my '74 set build but I love the design of these All Pro cards.

I might already have this in a PSA 10 but I can't get enough Ants.

I think this is a base geometric refractor from 2025 Topps Finest.  The scan doesn't do this justice, but it's a very shiny card.

I know I said I wasn't trying for a rainbow but I guess I have one anyway.  😁
The blue card is a recent addition.  I'm not sure what other colors I can add.

Here's a big one for the set!  Hard to believe I never had this card before now.

While I'm at it, one for a set I'm not working on.

It's a Clemente trifecta!  This is a well-loved 62 Post but also for the set.

Finally another one for the set!  Only 50 more to go!

I think that's enough with distractions.  From here on out I'm focusing on my set builds.  And my wifi.  And my taxes.  And oil changes for the cars.  And astrophotography.  Well, you get the picture.

  1. I would not have guessed that the Vikings had never won a Super Bowl...and I'm drooling over those Drake Maye cards.

    1. I thought the fact that the Vikings have never won a SB was universal knowledge. :)
