Set Chase Check In

The first quarter of the year is nearly done so I thought I'd do a quick check on my set completion projects.  This allows me to assess my progress and maybe refine my acquisition strategy.

1972 Topps Baseball

23 cards left - with 6 on the way - but I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch, so cards not in possession don't count against the budget. I have $276 left in my budget and with most of the high buck cards in possession, I'm starting to feel more confident I'll complete the set within my budget.
Most wanted: #441 Thurman Munson

1970 Topps Baseball

I still need 55 cards to complete this set.  Slow progress but 1972 is the priority.
Most wanted: #462 Hank Aaron AS

1969 Topps Baseball

My fabulous brother found a shop near him with vintage and spent some time there, finding about 100 cards for my set build.  That was a major boost and now there are only 20 cards left.
Most wanted:  #424 Pete Rose AS

1960 Topps Baseball

Here is a set that has been largely ignored for too long.  75% complete and still need 148 cards.
Most wanted:  #563 Mantle AS

1956 Topps Baseball

Only 103 cards left to complete this set.  I will step up the chase once I conquer one of the other sets.
Most wanted: #95 Braves Team or #260 Pee Wee Reese

2024 Topps Chrome Football

I love of the look of 2024 Chrome.  So I'm going to complete all sports.  However, I'll probably just buy the other sets.  Since I already sunk so much into FB I'm buying cards one-by-one and I still need 170 cards.  Ouch.  I should have just bought the whole set.
Most wanted:  #202 Caleb Williams (refractor)

So these are lofty goals.  I'm hoping to have a few of these completed by year's end, and perhaps one or two within a month.  If that happens I'll get to start up more set completions projects.  😀

  2. I may have some 1970 cards you need. Sorry, not the Aaron AS. The quality is not the best. I should check sometime. Enjoying the nicer weather.

  3. Great job getting within sight of the '72 Topps finish line and can't wait to find out what the last card will be.
