BBA: Cards I like from Teams I don't

An interesting topic from the card blog world has been making the rounds and I thought I would offer my take on it.  Problem is there are a lot of teams I don't like, but many cards I do like, so here we go.

Enemy #1 for most Twins fans.  It's frustrating enough that ownership won't spend the money to make the team a true contender, but when the team does surpass expectations we always seem to lose to the Yankees.  However much I dislike the Yankees, Reggie and this sweet looking card will always be a favorite.

He's quirky and maybe controversial to some, but Phil Kessel endeared himself to all Gopher hockey fans by choosing my favorite college team over our rival to the east.  Even though he's shown wearing a Knights uniform, I love the look of this OPC retro card.  Meanwhile, every fan of the Wild hate the success the Golden Knights have had over the years.

The Cowboys success in the 90's was largely built on the back of the Hershel Walker trade.  However one player I aways liked was Emmitt Smith, especially when he would power my fantasy football team to championships.  This card shows a typical Emmitt Smith run - slowly, methodically looking for his blockers and an open path.

I haven't liked the Lakers since I learned they stole our basketball team.  And I really don't like Lebron.  However I do like this Prizm card showing him flying through the air.

Did you expect me to show a Packers card?  I tried but I couldn't find any I like.  The Bears are a close second on the hate list.  No matter how much I dislike the Bears, I can't dislike this card of Walter Payton getting taken down by the Vikings Mark Mullaney and future defensive MVP Keith Millard.  I've always liked these Fleer action sets and this 86 Fleer is awesome.

I had to also include this 82 Topps card as another great example of an action shot.  Love the horizontal Payton jumping over the pile.

I'll leave you with this last card.  A 1979-80 Billy Smith of the dynastic Islanders.  I like the 'old fashioned' look of this card.  The lone goal tender, probably staring down at the other end as his team works to control the play.  My dislike of the Islanders goes back to this era, especially after they defeated my North Stars 4-1 during the Stars improbable playoff run.

This topic kind of turned down memory lane, which is both cool and kind of painful for this fan.

Until next time, thanks for reading!
