Sunday Randomness - 1993 Action Packed Amoco Coca-Cola Ultimate All-Stars

After being under the weather for awhile, the Crocodile is finally up to snuff and posting again.  It's amazing how much I have to catch up on in just a couple weeks, so let's get to it.  This post focuses on a small set issued by Amoco and produced by Action Packed.  I could find very little about this set online, as most info I found was about the Action Packed All-Star Gallery series issued the same year.  But this little 18 card gem of a set seems to be overlooked by most collectors.

Ever since Action Packed began producing cards, I've always enjoyed their product.  The sculpted cards and simple design make for an attractive appearance.

This particular set focuses on 18 Hall of Famers including an aptly cropped shot of Lou Brock, perhaps stealing another base.

Yogi appears to be looking on from the on-deck circle.

A shot of the box these cards come in.  Given the Amoco and Coca-Cola logo's, I'm assuming folks could pick one of these up at a local Amoco convenience store.  You can probably buy this set for the same 1993 price too.

Willie Mays might be the most notable of all the players in the set.

The back of the card is nicely designed, with career totals and highlights.  I like how Gaylord Perry's highlights include a line about his "legendary notoriety for his expertise in doctoring the baseball".

As much as I like Action Packed cards, the thickness and dark border make them easily subject to chipping and dings.  But for a nice little easy to find set that won't harm the budget who cares?

Watching another Backseat Break won't harm the budget (but submitting all those cards to PSA will):
