Tech (grrr) and Cards (yipee)

Try as I might, probably like most people, I put off updating tech because it can be expensive to replace.  Unfortunately that attitude only puts off the inevitable.  Or maybe I'm jinxed.  I'm not sure, but my 10+ year old desktop that I like to use as my primary blogging device took another crap recently.  Some readers may recall my POST from this past summer of my computing woes.  This time a RAM stick went bad.  This may be more frustrating to troubleshoot than when I had to replace the GPU and drive.  I have no idea how a RAM stick just goes bad, but it happened.

The jinxed part may be due to another blog I was reading before my computer issues happened.  You see, I was reading Jon's post from A Penny Sleeve for your Thoughts.  In his post about being thankful, he had commented about how his laptop was dying.  2 days later my desktop died.  Coincidence?  Hmmm....

And it wasn't just that.  I had to replace a mouse, headset (snapped in 3 places thanks to my dog) and upgraded my iphone.  Luckily black Friday saved me some $$.

Anyway I do have some cards to show off.

I picked up a nice bunch of 1970 Kellogg's.  Well calling these 'nice' might be an overstatement due to all the cracking.  Nevertheless, these 'well-loved' cards have found a new home with me.

There were 34 cards in all,  which gives me nearly half of a full set.  Some pretty good names too.

So this was another opportunity to claim a bunch of cards from a set I didn't ever think I would collect.  I've now given myself another project.

Until next time, happy hunting and remember - respect your tech.

  2. Even cracked, those are still great cards.

  3. Sorry to hear about the computer issues. RAM sticks don't go bad often, but they can, especially on 10 year old computers.

  4. Definitely some solid HOF names there. Most of my tech equipment meets the 10 year and older criteria. I'm not asking for any issues soon!

  6. A. I'm gonna need to buy a new desktop and laptop in 2025. Hopefully they'll both last five to ten years, because then it's money well spent.

    B. 1970 Kellogg's is my favorite Kellogg's design. Good luck with that set. I was in the process of building that set... but the hobby boom put a hold on that project.

  7. Such a great set, 1970 Kelloggs, feels like a 60s set and a 70s set at the same time

  8. I sometimes consider trying more vintage when I see posts like this. I have very very little
