Like I said in my prior post, I've been on a bit of a spending spree lately and if the title didn't give it away, mostly vintage cards have been added to the collection. I've really been trying to focus on needs rather then wants, but sometimes you need to buy in bulk to get what you want.
For instance this lot of 1960 Topps cards resulted in less then half of these as actual needs. The others may serve as upgrades or trade bait. I haven't been too picky about condition when it comes to this set. This set build is only 67% complete.
This trio of 71's were all needs. I need to upgrade that Mays at some point (I know that is more like a 'want' but the line in his name bugs me). This set is over 98% complete!
I also picked up a couple of 1970 Scratch Off's. 11 more to go.
Card #1 from the 1974 Topps set. I have a bunch of cards from this set but have no idea what I need, so I picked this up 'just in case'.
This card from the 1972 Topps football set might say Terry Bradshaw, but I think that's John Brown doing a fine job blocking not only for Bradshaw, but blocking our view of the QB.
Here's another set need. Johnny Unitas in action. One of my favorites from this set.
I've got a bunch more to show off, but time to take a break from scanning. Happy hunting!
As I was completing '71 Topps, I planned to upgrade my Mays card (paper loss on the back). It's been over 10 years and I still haven't, and you know what, it no longer bugs me.
ReplyDeleteThat block of 1960 Topps cards looks so cool together. It'll never happen... but it would be super cool to own a set that's stored in 9-pocket pages. But maybe I'll put together one 9-pocket page for my collection.
ReplyDeleteNice pickups! Those early Topps football action photo cards are great.
ReplyDeleteAre you aware of the difference between '70 scratchoffs and '71 scratchoffs? I only found out recently, and about half the scratchoffs I have, that I thought were all '70, were really '71.
Thanks for the reminder on those scratchoffs. Totally forgot about that!
DeleteThe Killebrew is a '70 (white background) and the Yaz is '71 (red)!
