Have you ever gone to a card show and left disappointed? Every year there is a show at a mall that runs the week before Christmas and wraps up on Christmas Eve. The first couple of years I went to this show it was full of dealers and really busy. This year's show left me underwhelmed. There were not as many dealers on hand and a few started setting up late. It could be due to another show that was going on the day before (my brother and I went on Sunday) but that's speculation. This show goes a whole week! I'm not sure but maybe a week is too big of a commitment for dealers. Unfortunately the cards I'm looking for were hard to come by. Not to mention Pokémon dealers are taking up more space than ever.
So I made do with what was available.
First up is this 1998 Metal Universe Jordan. Actually I bought two of them because why not?
And the dealer sweetened the deal by throwing in this 2021 Donruss Optic Holo Prizm.
I picked up this Panini Illusions Rashod Bateman rookie as these are cheap. He's a former standout for the Gophers who is having a break out year for the Ravens.
I couldn't turn down my first Elly De La Cruz. I'm starting to believe the hype on this guy.
I also jumped on the Paul Skenes bandwagon. Should be interesting to watch him next year.
Another guy I'm starting to believe the hype on is Jackson Merrill.
And yes, Ohtani should be at or near the top of every collectors list.
Another add for my 150th year insert set build. These are surprisingly tough to find in the wild.
Finally this shadow box of Brock Faber was pulled by my brother. He took a chance and bought a box of 23-24 UD SPx. He got burned pretty bad so I threw $10 at him for this card to make him feel better.
The 3D effect of this card is pretty sweet looking. The scan does not do it justice.
Until next time happy hunting and Merry Christmas!
Nice baseball pick ups. Got the cards you sent, thank you. I'll get them posted after the holidays.
ReplyDeleteA. I'm sure I've left a card show disappointed... but I can't remember any specific examples.
ReplyDeleteB. I'm glad there aren't any week long card shows in my area. I think the longest I remember is four days.
C. I don't blame you for purchasing two Metal Jordans. He's the GOAT and 90's Metal rocks!
Nice cards and Faber is one of my current Wild favorites. Merry Christmas to all.
ReplyDeleteLots of good pickups. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Greg!
ReplyDeleteGreat bunch of stuff. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteJefferson wins it.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, thanks for the box of cards. You're very generous.
