I've fallen behind on a few posts as I was out of town for about a week so this is a quick post today to show off a few more additions to the collection and get me back into the 'posting' groove.
I'll start with with this custom card autographed by one of my all-time favorite running backs, Earl Campbell. I like that Beckett will authentic and slab unlicensed cards such as this. Whoever made this custom did a really nice job. It's too bad Topps didn't think to include Campbell in the 1981 set.
This East Coast Julius Erving was purchased at a local card shop which has since closed. Cool card with a young Bird and McHale making a cameo.
This '68 Mantle was found at a local card shop that is still open. In fact this shop just started keeping older vintage cards and I happened to find this while thumbing through a box. Other than some corner wear it's in really good shape.
I also found these two needs hiding in the same box.
These cards represent the young and old of Vikings receivers. Though can you really call Moss old?
Finally I found this well loved 2nd series checklist from the 1957 set. I already have one but...
I really needed the Bazooka version. Now I just need to find 'affordable' 3rd and 4th series checklists with the Bazooka variation.Until next time, happy hunting!
Pretty cool finds! That Julius Erving card is my favorite of the bunch. Good eye spotting Bird and McHale in the background! (PS: Send me your mailing address when you have a minute. I've got a card to send you.)
ReplyDeleteSweet additions. The Campbell auto looks amazing, as does the Mantle card.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff. Love the Campbell autograph. Had no idea he didn't have a card in the 1981 set. Just looked him up on COMC and it doesn't look like he has any Topps cards in the 80's.
ReplyDeleteTopps didn't have a license for Earl Campbell after his rookie year cards (1979).
DeleteDoc was great, but Mantle wins this one.
ReplyDeleteBazooka backs are awesome.
