Another Road Trip

Back in January my brother accompanied me to North Carolina to visit my daughter and help load up my truck with some of her stuff.  She decided to move back home for awhile, which is kind of a shame because I was just starting to like that place.  The drive was a little better this time, as icy roads gave way to nice dry pavement and warmer weather.

The good thing about driving is that you get to stop and check out a few places that you would miss if you hopped on a plane.  Places like Beckley, West Virginia.  I had never heard of this place before but a quick search told us there might be sports cards nearby so we found our way to the Crossroads Mall.  There we located a shop that sold retro video games and collectibles.  Very cool shop to visit for us retro types.

This shop had all kinds of fun stuff including these autographed Daisy Dukes!  As tempting as it was, I had to pass on this deal.

Of course, there were cards to be had.  These came out of a dollar box.  Bo is supposed to make an appearance at a card show soon, that card might be good to blow up and get signed.

I also found this game-used Sweet Spot card.  That is a swatch of Tony Gwynn's pants.  I hope they washed them before putting them in the card.  :)

This triple thread card is my first JJ McCarthy rookie.  All Viking fans are holding their breath that he doesn't turn out to be another Trubisky or Ponder - take your pick.

Found this blue parallel in the dollar bin.  I completed the original set but I'll take parallels too.

This PSA 10 Silver Prizm of Ant was just too good to pass up.

That was our first stop during the trip and I'll show off more goodies in my next post.
Until next time, happy hunting.

  1. Glad the trip went well. Nice JJ card and Ant graded. I have that Ant card, but it is a base card. Anything Minnesota is good for me.

  2. The fact that they're charging an extra $100 for a COA makes me wonder how many bootleg autographed Diasy Dukes are out there...

  3. Nice Bo Jackson card with a Rick Cerone cameo.
