Since I'm trying to hunt down the last 50 cards for my 72 set build, I made a point to attend last weekend's card show. Besides, it had been over a month since my last card show and I was getting the itch (it really doesn't take too much to get me to go to a card show anyway). So here are a few additions to the collection.
I bundled those Pucketts with these Jordans for around $45, a decision I quickly regretted. In my haste to buy, I broke my primary rule of card collecting: never purchase from the first table you visit.
Despite being a regular at this show, I knew this particular dealer was not known for offering competitive deals. Later, on the other side of the venue, I found another dealer with a substantial supply of those 1990 Fleer Jordans marked at $10 each. He immediately mentioned that the price was incorrect and offered them for $4 each. Consequently, I purchased more of those 1990 Fleer Jordans, along with several other cards.
Cards like these. I found a nice Beam Team John Stockton and a 98 Kobe from UD's Black Diamond set. I really like the Black Diamonds and some day might chase that set.
At the same table I also picked up this Churchman's soccer card from 1938 (or 39, not sure). These cards are pretty cheap but since I never see these in the wild I thought I'd buy it.
Down the aisle I stopped at another table that had some nice vintage displayed. I took a quick look through a stack of 56's and found a couple of set needs.
For my 24 Chrome FB set build I landed a couple of Vikings for a buck. If these cards had logos this set would be even more awesome then it is.
That's all I have to show for now. I have some tough choices to make as there are 4 card shows this weekend. Until next time happy hunting!

Holy cow, I need to part with my Jordan PC, lol.
ReplyDeleteVery nice pick ups. Great variety of teams and sports. Enjoy the time all!
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff. I love collecting MJ, but it's gotten to the point where his stuff is too expensive. That McDonald's MJ is really cool. I have four of the cards from that set, but still need to find the four card panel that your card was originally part of. That Stocton Beam Team is really cool too. I was on a break from the hobby when collectors were pulling them from packs, but I have picked up a handful for my collection over the years. Those 1956 Topps cards are my favorites. I'm jealous of your set build. That's one of those sets I could only dream of building.
ReplyDeleteExcellent pickups!
ReplyDeleteNice Broder Puckett. Love the 90s border on that McD's card.
