Long Weekend of Hockey

A few weeks back a friend of mine and I decided to head south of the border for a weekend of hockey games.  For those not familiar, the reason we went to Des Moines was because it is the home to the MN Wild's AHL affiliate team, the Iowa Wild.  Minor league hockey might not be on most people's list of things to do but the games are fun and cheap.  Center ice seats were only $30.  Plus, they play in a nice stadium and in a clean city.

It also helped that it was $2 for CL's and we got a bobblehead!  That totally made the drive worth it.

However when I got back I had a nice, tall, stack of mail to sort through.  So let's see what I got.

First up, Angus of Dawg Day Cards fame sent me this '72 Phillies card to help with my set build.
Thank you!

Another set need, this Boyhood Photo of Willie Stargell was in the mail stack.  I had ordered this about a week prior so it's nice to check this off.  I'm down to a $275 budget with 21 cards to go, but have 5 more 'en route'.  I'm looking forward to closing out this set chase.

After realizing how close I was to closing out this set, I went on a buying streak for these 2022 Batting Helmet cards.  I think the Arenado is a blue parallel and didn't realize it when I bought it but I'm counting it towards the set.  These have been remarkably tough to find in the wild and online sellers have a penchant for adding excessive postage for these.  But - only 4 more to go!

Here's 4 more additions for my '95 Studio set build.

For the PC I love the look of the 2004 Playoff Hogg Heaven Randy Moss.

And did you think I could resist a holiday Ant?

I also picked up a couple of 80-81 Topps Mojo's for the set build.

I also found three 2024 Topps Chrome football in the mail stack.  Gopher football fans love Cooper DeJean for blowing a fare catch signal that basically cost Iowa a game a few year back.

Finally I landed a 2018 Leaf Premier Rookie of Ohtani.

That's all I have to show off for now.  Happy Easter!
