A Mid-year Review

It's been awhile since I reviewed the goals I had set for myself this year, so I thought it was time to do a check up.  Here's a refresher from my January post:

1) Complete the run of Topps baseball sets for the 70's.
Progress report:  1972 is all but done.  I've slowly worked my way to completing the 1970 set, but haven't been buying up many of those cards yet.  It's very possible to complete this by year's end.

2) Complete a shiny set like 2024 Topps Chrome FB.
Progress report:  Well, I did complete the 2022 Topps Helmet insert set.  Does that count as a shiny set?  I'm not sure, but progress on the Topps Chrome FB set has fizzled a bit.

3) Complete an insert set or two.
Progress report:  Wait - didn't I just mention that Helmet insert set?  Yay!! That counts here!

4) Reset my card collecting room.
        Progress report:  work has begun!

I moved some furniture and taken down the old shelves.  I have a new sit/stand desk picked out along with new shelves.  I'm going to hang a TV in here and I also plan to repaint the room but it won't be as fancy as this guy's room.  I'm thinking maybe a cool gray will work for a more modern look.

Unfortunately during this 'remodel' many of my cards will be unreachable because I need to stack them all somewhere else for the time being.

Cards aren't the only thing that will occupy this room.  About a month ago my daughter gifted me this color 3D printer.  So now I have another hobby to occupy my time with.  I can't wait to get started.

In addition to all of this, I'm still trying to reduce the volume of my collection (though I did not set a goal).  I recently sold off about 10k cards and I'm hopeful I can sell of another 10k soon.

In the midst of this 'remodel' I'll try to keep posting as often as I can.  I'll have pics when it's complete.

Until next time, happy hunting!

  1. Nice progress! 3D printers are one thing I have zero experience with. Have fun and enjoy it all!

  2. It's always fun to see how collectors put their card rooms together. Looking forward to the next update!
